Plumstead Christian School holds several fundraisers and “friend-raisers” each year, and each of these opportunities facilitates community connection, helps us achieve our financial goals, and blesses the school. Some of these events are also really fun ways to participate in giving, and unless the benefit you are receiving equals the gift you are giving, all or a portion of the gift can be tax deductible.
CALENDAR OF FUNDRAISING
October
Race for Education - This is our Lower School students’ gift to the Fund for Plumstead (see November/December below regarding the Fund for Plumstead). Students collect commitments from family, friends, etc. who give a monetary donation to the school in exchange for the student running/walking in our Race for Education for a complete hour. The Lower School Race for Education is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 and fundraising is from October 7th-25th.
Fall participation in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC program) - This is a phenomenal way to give by redirecting PA state income tax to our school for tuition assistance. 90% of your gift is returned to you as a PA state tax credit, and the school incentivizes families who participate in this program by providing a tuition credit equal to 25% of their total EITC gift. Participants either participate in the spring of each calendar year or the fall of each calendar year.
November/December
The Fund for Plumstead - this is our school’s Annual Fund. Although we are collecting gifts to our annual fund throughout the year, it is generally launched with a mailing and email communication in November each year with a follow up reminder or two in the spring. Our school operates on a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) and so the Fund for Plumstead goal each year is for the fiscal year rather than the calendar year. Unlike other fundraising events, gifts given to the Fund for Plumstead are given simply because people believe in our mission. This is in contrast to many of our fundraising events (e.g. Founders Forum, Golf Tournament). The Fund for Plumstead generally focuses on raising funds for tuition assistance, initiatives to improve programs or facilities, or endowment expansion.
Founders Forum - Monday, November 18 we will host Nick Foles as our keynote speaker. Founders Forum features a nationally recognized Christian whose faith informs the way they live and work. Those who invest through a sponsorship or through the purchase of a ticket are helping us to make this incredible event possible each year. Our primary hope in holding this event is to inspire our community to live for Jesus. Secondarily, we hope that our speaker series draws Christians from the community to our school as a way of introducing them to our school as a viable option for their children. Net revenue from Founders Forum is used to meet annual operational expenses and to enhance programming for our students on both campuses.
February/March
Basket Bingo (date TBD). This Home and School Partnership Fundraiser/Friendraiser is a fun evening event intended to connect women within our community with each other while also providing some of the necessary funds to bless our faculty during Teacher Appreciation Week.
PCS Spring Golf Tournament - the date of this event is May 12, 2025. If you love to golf and enjoy networking, spend a day playing golf on a beautiful course. There are sponsorship opportunities available for those who are golfing or for those who just want to help out the school with this event.
Spring participation in the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC program) - This is a phenomenal way to give by redirecting PA state income tax to our school for tuition assistance. 90% of your gift is returned to you as a PA state tax credit, and the school incentivizes families who participate in this program by providing a tuition credit equal to 25% of their total EITC gift.
